What customers say?

“ Time to get Apple Pay time to upgrade the system, starting to piss off more customers than your satisfying by keeping a Flintstone cash register! The food is great, but you’re not keeping up with the times Theo’s sold their establishment because of this problem. I love you guys but sell the establishment to someone who can get Apple Pay.. These times we’re living in people are dealing with enough when they come get wings they don’t need to be hassled ”

“ I had the pleasure of a late lunch at Rumberger's and it did not disappoint. With less than a week til Christmas, I went in around 3p hoping for a good lull between lunch and dinner. While it wasn't busy it was steady, and the staff had three hundred chicken wings packed for pickup and two hundred more going down. Even with the large caterings no one was quoted more than a 20 min wait, and the estimate was accurate. Like most Peoria chicken joints, Rumberger's isn't a place to dine in a leisurely fashion, but the decor, seating and atmosphere are much nicer than other chicken takeaway restaurants I have seen. The decor was bright and lively and included a grass wall and eye-catching typography. If you have to wait a minute, you'll have plenty to look at. The food was excellent! I tried three kinds of wings: lemonade, dirty, and honey gold (BBQ). I also had okra and French fries. While the menu is small and focused: wings, tenders, catfish, chicken sandwich, and sides, the variety of flavor is impressive with 17 flavors between the dry rubs and sauces. The one classic fish provides options for non-chicken inclined. The wings were hot, juicy and crisp. While I wanted to try lemonade wings because it sounded appalling, it was incredible. It was sweet and crisp outside and I think in the end it was my favorite. I also really enjoyed the dirty rub--on my wings, my fries, and especially on the okra. Okra can be very hit and miss. This was cooked perfectly and the okra was super juicy and perfectly crisp. The flavorful dirty rub was a great contrast. The fries were also pretty killer, again thanks to being dirty. In another venue I might talk longer about the thick, perfectly cooked zig-zag fries, but at Rumberger's they were the least impressive part of the meal. I'm usually a ketchup on my fries girl, but I found it unnecessary. Most important, the restaurant and the oil was clean. The soda fountain was clean; you could see that the dining room walls were wiped regularly--no spots, splashes, or smears. The restroom was plain but clean. There was nothing dusty. I didn't see the kitchen but I saw everything I tasted was perfectly golden without any burnt bits or fryer debris in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. I had seen BBQ sauce, pork rinds and a popcorn mix for sale. I asked about purchasing dirty rub and was told only wet sauces could be taken to go. The staff was professional, efficient and friendly. They're fast paced too and all business. I would not call it a drawback, but I think I heard a few times, tell her\him we don't split up the wings. You want one more flavor, you gotta buy one more plate. If it's an excuse to go back, I won't complain. Definitely will return. Portions were plentiful. Price was very fair. ”

“ I still say these are hands down the best wings in Peoria. Flavor is delicious and there are a nice variety of flavors for wings. My favorites are lemonade, The Turner (buffalo ranch) and lemon pepper. Definitely need to try it if you haven't! ”

“ The food was hot and fresh, the folks working were attentive and friendly. I was very excited because I used to go to the Rumbergers on Prospect before Covid and didn’t realize they had reopened in another location. It was absolutely excellent!! We will definitely be back for more! One of my favorite Wing Places in the Peoria area! I got the dirty rub extra crispy bone in wings and the broccoli bites! YUM!! ”

“ I wanted to try Rumberger's while I was in town, but the only delivery option is ChowNow, and they’ve doubled the prices, added extra fees, plus an $8 delivery charge. So I’ll have to save it for another trip, hopefully! Big thanks to my coworker for the recommendation, but I just can’t justify the extra cost. ”

“ This is our mom and pop restaurant in the city of Peoria. I have friends in different area codes willing to travel to come and visit this restaurant cause of their famous hot wings and honey gold wings. I love love love me a 10 piece buss down crispy, extra wet and maybe even all flats if possible. I love all of their sides its such an amazing variety and what ever you choose you wont go wrong. Also please try the rum buns they are so addicting. I believe they do catering, I only know because when Shaun Livingston host the basketball camps in the summer he usually ordered the staff this for lunch. My picture that Im uploading is from a catering event so you only get to see the wing quality and not the aesthetic. Hope this helps. ”

“ Let's start off with the food. Food is always good here, the wings are some of my favorite wings in the area. Ordered 20 peice wings at the counter. Upon ordering was told it'll take approximately 15 minutes. However I knew it would be longer, so I left to run an errand nearby. Returned over half an hour later, order still not prepared. Waited an additional 10 minutes or so. So total time approximately 45 minutes or so. If this restaurant can improve on their service and their service times, would definitely rate them higher, as the product is exceptional. ”
